Website

Recommended:
Squarespace - I have tried c.a. a hundred website platforms. This IS the one for solopreneurs! Great ease of use, with fair pricing. This page runs on Squarespace too!

NOT recommended:
Self-hosted WordPress - No it’s not free, nor cheaper - if it’s hosted for you and someone maintains it for you then it could be a good idea. eg.: HubFizz

Email Newsletters

Recommended
Mailerlite - the best usability-to-price ratio with generous free plan

Flodesk - best for ease of use and design, expensive to start out with but when you have thousands of subscribers it’s actually cheaper than others

Kit.com (formerly ConvertKit) - became quite user friendly and well designed over the years, though it’s slightly more expensive

NOT Recommended
Mailchimp - yes it was a pioneer in this field, but it got bought and is used as a cash-cow. Not userfriendly, overkill for solopreneurs.

Scheduling/Booking platform

Recommended
Introwise - good looking, userfriendly, generous free tier, video calls INCLUDED! Made by a small company, not a corporation!

TidyCal - not as good looking nor that userfriendly, but it’s super cheap and feature-rich.

NOT Recommended
Acuity - it’s featurerich, but it’s not user friendly and is an overkill for solo entrepreneurs

Selling anything online

Recommended:
Gumroad - easy to set up, you can sell pdfs, courses, anything, no monthly fees, just a 10%cut.

NOT Recommended:
Anything with a monthly fee - before you make at least a few hundred dollars of sales EACH month! I see so many people spend 1000s of dollars on a test to see if they can sell anything at this stage of their business, and they usually sell 2-3 units in half a year. Everybody starts there it’s not a “bad sign“ but why would you waste thousands of dollars meanwhile?

Self-Hosted WooCommerce for WordPress- super-duper not recommended, it’s overcomplicated, and high-maintenance, complete overkill and a huge frustration source. Talk with HubFizz to host it for you if you’d like to use it!
